Dr. Julian E. Spencer, Th. D

Rev. Julian E. Spencer, Th.D is the son of the late Pastor James and B. Jean Spencer of Emanuel Baptist Church of San Francisco, CA. Since his first music lesson at the age of  
eight, it was clear that God had a special plan for Dr. Spencer. Over the years, Dr. Spencer has won numerous honors and awards for his  musical talents and gifts.

 

On January 21st, 1996, Dr. Spencer answered the call of God on his life, preached his first  sermon and was licensed that same day. Two years later, he was ordained by Saint Paul  Missionary Baptist Church, San Jose, CA and returned to his pursuit of higher learning, by  enrolling in the Sacramento Theological Seminary and Bible College-Stockton Extension  School.

 

Dr. Spencer has earned an Associate of Biblical Studies, Bachelor of Theology, Master of  Theology, and Doctorate of Theology, earning top academic honors in each class.  On    June 2, 2007, the members of the Main Baptist Church of Aurora, IL responded positively   to God and called Dr. Spencer to be the 20th pastor in their over 140 year legacy of ministry.



Since then as the Senior Pastor at the Main Baptist Church, Pastor Spencer has inspired a renewed spirit, proclaiming Main Baptist to be the place where "Christ is the Main thing!" Pastor Spencer's leadership has ushered in a revival that has caused the membership of Main to experience remarkable growth quantitatively and qualitatively. Locally, Dr. Spencer has become an influential voice in Aurora and the greater Fox Valley area.

He currently serves in:
• Aurora Police Department - Chaplain
• Fox Valley Christian Action – Pastor’s Council
• North Woodriver Missionary Baptist District Association
• Iowa Missionary and Educational Baptist State Convention and Illinois Vicinities

He has also co-founded and currently serves as chairman of the Good Samaritan Network, Inc., a not-for-profit organization aimed at connecting helping hands across the community in order to provide holistic services to those in need. Internationally, he continues the commitment of Main Baptist to Foreign Missions. He has led a missions efforts in Kenya, and is currently building infrastructure that will help embrace, evangelize and empower all God’s people regardless of race, ethnicity or social-economic status all over the world.
