Becoming Involved in Ministry

“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do...” Ephesians 6:7-8

At Main Baptist Church we are building a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoys its results as we do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor. With God’s help, along with our entire community we will fulfill God’s purposes, we will follow God’s principles, we will be faithful in God’s practices and we will focus on God’s passion for advancing His kingdom in this community and in the entire world.

As Christians we are called to serve God according to our gifts and abilities.  Becoming involved in one or more of our ministries is an excellent way to grow closer to Christ by serving His people.

Main has ten Purpose Areas that drive the ministry. Below is a list of these Purpose Areas, along with a brief description of what they do:

Supports the Pastor, leadership teams and congregation in developing ministry and provide oversight for church operations.  “Let all things be done decently and in order.” 1 Corinthians 14:40 NKJV

Adult Ministries

Cultivates and nurtures Christ-Centered ministry through initiatives that meet both the spiritual and practical needs of the church and community. “Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4 NKJV

Congregational Care

Supports the Pastor in building community in Main Baptist church and carrying out the four major tasks of the church, evangelizing the world; worshipping God; teaching the Bible and applying biblical truth, so that God's will may be done on earth as it is in heaven.  “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32

Discipleship and Training

Provides, develops and promotes program initiatives based on the Word of God that equips individuals for discipleship. “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV)

Evangelistic Missions

Shares the grace and gospel of Jesus Christ with our family, friends, community and world. “And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, ‘Be saved from this perverse generation.’ Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.” Acts 2:40-41 NKJV

Cultivates and evaluates the atmosphere and effectiveness of our worship services. “Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!” Hebrews 13:2 NLT

New Generation Children’s and Youth Ministry

Trains children and youth to know, love and live for GOD. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 NKJV

Prayer and Support

Perpetuates the prayer life of the church and its supporting ministries. “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance, and supplication for all the saints”… Ephesians 6 :18 (NKJV)

Encourages, trains and supports the members and ministries of Main Baptist Church to be consistent stewards of their time, talents and Kingdom resources and assets entrusted to us by God. “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4: 10 NIV

Worship and Arts

Enhances worship experiences and engages our congregation through the ministry of song, dance, drama and other artistic forms that express our love for God through worship. “On your feet now – applaud GOD! Bring a gift of laughter, sing yourselves into his presence. Know this: GOD is God and God, GOD. He made us; we didn’t make him. We’re his people, his well-tended sheep. Enter with the password: ‘Thank you!’ Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him. For GOD is sheer beauty, all-generous in love, loyal always and ever.” Psalm 100:1-5 MSG
